The Woman Who Wont Stop Growing

Tanya Angus at age 18 and 12 years later...Tanya Angus is the woman who cant stop growing.

A woman from Nevada, Tanya Angus, is considered one of the tallest and heaviest women on the planet because she cant stop growing.

Diagnosed with a rare hormonal condition known as Agromeglia, Tanya Angus has gone from a bikini beach babe on her 18th year to a woman standing at 6'5 (198CM) 473 pound (215kg) woman.

Just 12 years ago Tanya Angus was seen frolicking in swim suits on beaches and was seen as an attractive beauty standing at 172cms with the world at her feet.

Now at age 30, Tanya Angus has to cope with a body that refuses to stop growing, despite doctors attempts to stifle the growth of Tanya Angus with drugs and operations.

"Someone at work actually asked me if I used to be a man," she told media.

"My voice had also changed and become deeper. I was devastated and started to feel very shy and insecure."

When Tanya Angus realized her body simply would not stop growing, she went to a local doctor at age 20, but the GP told Tanya Angus she was just an attention seeker simply looking to pep up on anti-depressants.

However, Tanya Angus finally had her problem recognised by medical practitioners after she returned to her home state of Nevada after an incident that saw her boyfriend demanded to know if she was really a man who had a sex change.

''I was heartbroken and I decided I didn't want any more to do with him," Tanya Angus said. ''I phoned my mum and said I wanted to come back to Nevada.

"As soon as my sister saw me at the airport, she knew I'd changed, and she called my mum and told her we needed to see a doctor.

After tests it was discovered Tanya Angus had a massive brain tumor that was responsible for producing hormones some 12 times higher than the level seen in most humans.

After the tumor was discovered, Tanya Angus had two operations to try and cut the tumor out. One operation on Tanya Angus saw fat from her stomach implanted into her brain to hemorrhage the gab left by the removed tumour. But the operations performed by doctors on Tanya Angus has failed to stop her growth, with her hormone levels still sky high.

The family of Tanya Angus has now spent over over $200,000 US in search of a cure for her continuing growth.

Doctors have now given Tanya Angus little time to live, but the 30-year-old and her family say Tanya Angus will continue to fight.

Acromegalia (and not agromegalia) is treatable. It stems from a tumour - usually benign and not cancerous - on the pituitary gland. Such tumours are operable, and, in worst case scenarios, the pituitiary gland can be removed but the patient constrained to take hormones to replace those that are no longer produced (by the pituitary gland). I don't understand why this poor woman was not diagnosed and operated on years ago. There are other inconsistencies in this article.

"One operation on Tanya Angus saw fat from her stomach implanted into her brain to hemorrhage the gab left by the removed tumour."

This makes absolutely no medical sense whatsoever.

It's wonderful to read the caring and compassionate comments I've seen on the Internet (the ignorant, insensitive ones, I ignore). Tanya is in the hospital. You can read more and keep updated at her new official website (which is still under construction): http://www.TanyaAngus.com
